Modak Recipe: An Indian dessert which is prepared during the Ganesh Chaturthi. Modak is a popular dish from Maharashtra which is prepared and enjoyed during Ganesh chathurthi because it is said that lord ganesh loved it. A prasad of 21 modak is present after the ganesh pooja. This is a very special modak recipe which uses kesar in it. The kesar present in the preparation enhances the flavour of the modak.
Ingredients Of Kesari Modak
- 200 Gram Rice flour
- 150 Gram Jaggery
- 2 Gram Cardamom powder
- 20 Gram Cashewnut, roasted
- 15 Gram Raisins
- 150 Ml Water
- 150 Gram Coconut, grated
- 1 Gram Saffron
- A pinch of Salt
- 30 Gram Ghee
How to Make Kesari Modak
1.water is to be boiled, a pinch of salt is added along with a teaspoon of saffron, ghee, and the rice flour is poured.
2.it is to be covered with a damp cloth and needs to be kept aside for 10 minutes.
3.In a pan, ghee is added, and then, grated coconut and jaggery is added. The coconut and jaggery is used for stuffing.
4.everything is mixed well. Finally cardamom powder is added, roasted cashewnuts and raisins.
5.Take dough, wet hands with water and oil to knead into a soft dough.
6.Now start to put ball into small bowl size shape, the filling is stuffed and and now you have to make plates around the stuffing.
7.all the plates are gathered at the center of stuffing and edges are sealed.
8.Keep the modaks covered with the wet cloth as they can dry out.
9.Heat up 1 inch of water in idly cooker and place a banana leaf, put modaks on top of it.
10.Steam for 10 minutes over medium heat.
11.serve these delicious modaks.
