Probiotics fall under the category of living microorganisms which prevents and treats some illnesses. Thus, they are also refered as healthy and friendly bacteria. They can be supplied in the form of food supplements, beverages, tablets. The word probiotc is derived from the greek word “pro” meaning “promoting” and biotics meaning “life”. The Bulgarian scientist Elie Metchnikoff is consider the” father of probiotics”. The discovery of these medicine came around early 20th century.

Probiotics benefit:-

  1. Provides immunity

Reports say, during delivery of a baby through the birth canal, the newborn baby picks up bacterias like bacteroides, bifidobacterium, lactobacillus, and E.coli. These bacterias might be missing in some infants born by c-section. Hence they are more prone to allergies. As a matter of fact,these medicines provide immunity to such individuals and make them strong.

Our digestive system needs a healthy balance between good and bad bacteria. However in the modernizing world problems like lack of sleep, antibiotic overuse, poor food choice and stress may shift the balance in the favor of bad bacteria.
